From Dorm Room Staple to Aylo Property: The RedTube Backstory

RedTube launched in 2007, right when free tubes were eating the old paysite model alive, and it grew fast enough that the tech press started paying attention. By 2009 it had been snapped up by MindGeek, the same company that took over Pornhub and YouPorn. That company rebranded as Aylo in 2023, so today the whole family sits under one corporate roof. If you've read my PornHub review, a lot of this will feel familiar, because the siblings share plenty of DNA.

From what I dug up, the operation is based in Texas, with servers on both North American coasts. That second detail matters more than it sounds. Hosting on both sides of the country is a big part of why things load so quickly for people in the States, at least the ones whose states still let them in. The site hit a rough patch around 2010, bounced back a couple of years later, and has been a fixture of the free porn scene ever since.

Here's why I care about any of that history. A site that's survived this long isn't some fly-by-night domain that will vanish next month along with your saved favorites. Staying power is boring. Boring is exactly what you want when you expect your porn to be right where you left it.

A Tube That Actually Hired a Designer

Most free porn sites look like they were assembled in a basement during a power outage. RedTube doesn't. The color scheme is clean, the layout is tidy, and there's no pointless home button because the logo already does that job. Everything sits where your hand expects it, which is ideal when only one of your hands is available.

My favorite touch is the thumbnails. Hover over one and you get an actual moving preview of the scene, not a single still frame picked specifically to lie to you. It feels very YouTube, and I mean that as a compliment. You can size up a video in a couple of seconds and skip the ones where the 'hot MILF' turns out to be a blurry recording shot on a potato.

My one design gripe is the Categories dropdown. Click it and it hangs for a beat before opening, just long enough that you wonder whether you actually clicked. Not a dealbreaker by any stretch. It just feels odd on a site where everything else snaps into place instantly, like a single squeaky floorboard in an otherwise nice apartment.

Is RedTube Safe? Speed, Ads and What I Actually Saw

I ran my own browser test in August 2026, and the numbers looked great. The main content painted in about 0.6 seconds, fast enough that I barely registered a loading state. Zero popups. I counted 2 ad overlays and 11 ad network requests humming away in the background, which is light for a free tube and downright saintly next to some of the malware minefields out there.

On the safety question, I'm comfortable calling this one legit. It's run by one of the biggest companies in the adult business, not some anonymous clone, and I never got hit with fake virus warnings, redirect chains or 'your phone is infected' garbage. Use common sense with any ad you click, obviously. This is about as tame as free porn gets.

Oh, and if a buddy swears the site is broken, check what he typed. People land here after searching stuff like redtub, rrdtuve and even tredtubu, which tells me a lot of you are typing one-handed. Spell it right first. If it still won't load and you're in the US, it's almost certainly the state block, not a crashed server.

Digging Through the Red Tube Library

There are millions of videos here, and the nice part is how many ways you get to slice them. The categories are standard fare, running from anal all the way to VR and hentai, with the usual suspects in between: amateur, MILF and mature, Asian, ebony, Latina, interracial, POV, threesomes, big tits and a mountain of blowjobs. Nothing exotic, but every basic craving is covered.

What impressed me is that the categories are mostly honest. Plenty of tubes toss random junk into a tag and hope you won't notice. You click hentai and get a cursed 3D animation of some cartoon ogre. On RedTube the stuff under each label generally fits, with the occasional stray that snuck in through the back door.

Search is smart too. The bar has a dropdown so you can hunt through videos, photos or cam models, and in my experience it finds what you asked for if the thing exists on the site at all. Once you've got results, sort them by rating, view count, favorites, length or newest. I lean on the longest filter more than I should, for reasons I'll keep to myself.

Pornstars, Collections and Other People's Spank Banks

The Pornstars tab opens on women by default, and you can flip it to male or transgender performers with one click. Sorting works by video count, subscriber count or plain alphabetical, which is great if you're the kind of nerd who likes browsing from A to Z. My habit is sorting by video count. If someone has hundreds of scenes, I want to know about it.

Collections are the underrated gem here. You can save favorites into a collection that other users can see, and you can browse everybody else's collections too. It's like raiding a stranger's porn stash, minus the guilt and the dusty shoebox under the bed. A filter lets you stick to straight, gay or transgender picks, and a few of the ones I found were curated better than the actual category pages.

It's a small social layer, not a full community, and I like it that way. Nobody's leaving me essays in the comments or trying to sell me crypto. I just get a shortcut to someone else's good taste, which saves me twenty minutes of scrolling on a weeknight.

RedTube Lesbian and Gay: Both Doors Are Open

The old RedTube Lesbian page now lives inside this review, so here's the deal. Lesbian is one of the site's stronger niches, with plenty of girl on girl scenes spread across amateur uploads and polished studio stuff. RedTube Gay gets a slightly different treatment. The content is here, but the site clearly leans straight out of the box (even the Pornstars tab opens on women), so you have to steer. Switch that tab to male performers, filter collections to gay, or just search what you're into, and the good stuff shows up. It works fine once you know the moves. It just doesn't roll out a red carpet for you.

If gay porn is your main diet, I'd still keep a dedicated site or two in rotation. My picks for the best gay sites make a better home base than a tube that files you under 'also available'.

RedTube Premium, the App Question and That $9.99 Price Tag

The free side is so generous that premium almost feels optional, but here it is. RedTube Premium costs $9.99 a month, kills the ads, adds exclusive higher quality content and lets you cancel whenever you want. Last time I checked, they were even dangling a 7-day free trial in front of AdBlock users, which is a cheeky move. They know you're blocking their ads, so they'd rather sell you the quiet version than fight you.

Is it worth it? For a heavy user, ten bucks is a fair deal, especially when some paysites want $30 a month for a single studio's catalog. For a casual wanker, I'd pass. The ads are already so light that you're mostly paying for the exclusives, and the free library is big enough to keep you busy for years.

As for an app, I couldn't find a proper standalone one worth recommending, just the mobile site. It loads quickly in a phone browser and has handled everything I've thrown at it. Frankly, that suits me better anyway, since there's no porn icon sitting on my home screen for a nosy cousin to spot at Thanksgiving.

Live Cams, Fuck Now and the AdBlock Catch

There's a Cam Sex tab up top that pulls in live models you can watch in real time. It's a fun extra when prerecorded stuff isn't cutting it and you want someone who can actually react to you. The catch: with AdBlock running, the live streams get treated like ads and simply don't load. Turn it off for that page, or you'll be staring at empty boxes wondering where all the ladies went.

Honestly, well played by RedTube. It's the one corner of the site where my ad blocker works against me instead of for me, and I doubt anybody at Aylo is losing sleep over it. Pause the blocker, grab your fix, switch it back on.

The Fuck Now link is another story entirely. It sends you off to a separate site, so I don't really count it as part of RedTube. What I saw looked decently put together, but I came for tube porn, not a hookup funnel. I closed the tab and went back to the videos.

My Honest Verdict on RedTube

RedTube is the reliable old friend of free porn. It's fast, clean, mostly free, light on ads and loaded with 4K scenes, and it's been doing this since 2007 without losing the plot. My complaints are small ones: a sluggish Categories menu, cams that hate ad blockers, and gay content you have to go looking for.

The big problem is the one I opened with. If you're stuck in a state that Aylo has walled off, none of the good stuff matters, and you'll need sites like RedTube from a different company.
