Clean, White and a Little Lonely

The homepage greets you with a white background and a big wall of thumbnails, the tube formula every site has copied since forever. I normally hate white layouts because I do my browsing late at night and it feels like staring into an open fridge. Here I got over it fast, mostly because I was too busy clicking on videos to worry about my retinas.

The odd thing is that the site looks busy but feels empty. You get the grid, a sidebar of categories, a search box, and that's more or less the tour. No clever recommendations, no playlists, zero personality in the design. It's like walking into an apartment where the guy owns a thousand DVDs and exactly one chair.

Is that a dealbreaker? Not for me. A bare layout means there's nothing to figure out and no widgets fighting for your attention. I'd still love for someone over there to spend one weekend making it look less like a template they installed and forgot about.

What's Actually on the Menu
