What surprised me is how much of the writing leans on ethics. Plenty of sites will cheer you on into polyamory or swinging and leave it there. SDC keeps poking at the harder stuff: honesty with your partner, consent, what happens to feelings when a third person shows up. It treats sex, mental health and emotions as one tangled ball of yarn rather than three separate drawers, which is exactly how it works in real life.
